Check the airport name carefully! Completely my own fault, but in Iceland ""Keflavik"" airport in Reykjavik is where I flew in to, but ""Reykjavik"" airport is where I booked the car. It is 100% my own fault, but the group before me and after me in the queue ALL made the same mistake so it must be very common!

This company has some really bad reviews but we had no issues at all. Great hybrid car in really good condition. The actual pick up is a shuttle bus ride away from the airport which was okay but we waited a while to be picked up on return to the airport. I had booked extra insurance online and was told that if anything happened I’d have to pay out the money and then claim it back so opted to take out the extra insurance from the depot as the weather was rough. Lovely, friendly guy on return
Better range of quality cars at Thrifty than at some cheaper providers. Reviews seemed positive so I paid a little more than for some other companies to guarantee a good quality 4x4. The private shuttle service worked well getting picked up from arrivals after phoning them and getting taken back to the airport after dropping the car off. I thought this would be better than the shuttle bus used by other companies. Service at Thrifty was efficient and friendly from Tomas on arrival and at drop off. The car was very new and clean and also we had an upgrade to an MX5. I would definitely recommend Thrifty after my experience.
They made it really easy to pick up and return the car with their shuttle service. The car had some dents and scratches including a crack in the windshield. Make sure you document the entire car thoroughly before you drive off the lot. We were able to prove we did not make the crack and had no problem with the return. Great experience overall!
The whole process from booking through to drop off was efficient, with very friendly service. Our driver, Jakub, for both both trips and who dealt with our drop off was brilliant, we could have asked for better.
The collection/drop off from airport was smooth and efficient. Ice rental 4x4 met us at airport as agreed and took my fam of 4 & 4 large luggage + hand luggage to HQ. The return transfer was quick Ice rental 4x4 were very helpful in making sure we were safe as soon as we reported our concerns - friendly & helpful staff I got an upgrade at pick up and again as weather conditions worsened. They quickly dropped replacement car at my cabin (over 1hr away from HQ) midway through my hire once i reported the tyres were not studded - it allowed us continue our holiday w/o worry The whole team at Ice-rental 4x4 especially Kef & Andreas were fantastic
It was a little hard to determine who we needed to find. We waited at the meeting place at the airport exit. Then on the carpark at the shuttle bus. Then went back in the airport where we realised Gold Car was managed by Eurocar. A bit frustrating but once we got it everything was fab and a great car for 2 people travelling in snow and around some rough roads in Iceland. The only issue with the car was the drivers wiper was broken abd kept falling off so we had to stop regularly to fix it. Apart from that...super and very well priced.
Iceland goldcar is actually Europecar which is bo bad thing, as they are generally ok. It was a super quick pick up, and no pushy insurance vibe. For the budget end of the scale, which is always a little nerve racking, it felt alright.

Nice car, good price, friendly staff, convenient location right in the airport with 24/7 working hours. We took a Duster 4x4 for 9 days and were more than happy. Very recommended.
