Everything was going well, until I was charged for 5 gallons of gas the tank was void of. This was concerning , as I had filled tank prior to drop off. I called , very polite agent had me email my gas receipt and assured me error will be corrected. Still confused as to how someone could have made such an error. This was my 5 th car rental in the past 12 months and never experienced this before. In a relatively short and professional phone I believe all is corrected. So, that is a big positive. Going forward I will definitely take photo of tank gas gauge at drop off. Luckily I kept receipt of fill up. Additionally, would like to say car side mirrors with water deposits which decreased vision. Overall, good experience and will most definitely try Dollar car again.
Was lucky to get a free upgrade, only because they were out of the var I ordered.
The downgrade was n| t their fault, I opted for a small SUV instead of a midsize. They helped me with that so that was nice.
Our rental was very quick. We booked ahead of our trip and everything was ready when we arrived!
The windshield washer reservoir was empty and that was it, otherwise the car was fine, bigger Ethan we needed but ok.
Affordable car hire, easy to book. Pick up was prompt and within time period provided by staff, return was super quick. Shuttle service from airport to car hire and return was excellent with minimal wait
Overall, a very positive experience renting from Dollar in Kona. We waited a little while for the shuttle, but once it arrived it was empty and uncrowded since we didn’t have to wait for luggage. Check-in at the counter was quick with only a short line. The car was clean, ready to go, and exactly what we needed for our trip—reliable for beach days and capable of handling the steep drives up to coffee farms. Gas mileage was also better than expected for the size of the vehicle. The standout part of the experience was the customer service when our return flight was cancelled last minute. I was able to call and extend the rental by 24 hours at no extra cost, which took a lot of stress out of the situation (even though we ultimately didn’t need the extension). Would happily rent from Dollar in Kona again.
Well, they didn| t have our car, so they gave us something bigger but the engine developed a knock which sounded serious so I took it in to exchange and they were kind about it and gave us something smaller than we had originally paid for. So probably on average, worked out fine.
Very pleasant staff to deal with, I was in and out of the rental in less than 10 minutes to pick up the vehicle.
